This must be the place…where I admit my writer career has taken unexpected and drastic turns lately. The past two years have been full of changes (some happy, some not) and ultimately pushed me to take big leaps. That meant that I went quiet for quite a while as I processed things and made plans.

In the age of AI, being a working writer is no longer the path that it was even a few years ago. Maintaining control of your own creative career is a minefield and one that I’m not willing to navigate for anything but projects that are from my own heart.

So I guess this must also be the place to announce that my debut novel is coming out in 2027! Watch for all the behind the scenes of editing, deadlines, production, marketing (😖), and more!

Over the past year(ish), I’ve written a lot of words. Like, A LOT. I could go back and look because I get paid by the word, so all of the data is there. But I’m guessing it’s close to 500,000 and that’s not even a stretch. Probably more because I am notoriously bad at estimating.

Guess how many of those words were on my own projects.
Zero. Nada. Big ol goose egg.

This summer, I’ve tried to get back to my own writing, which was surprisingly difficult sometimes. I had to make sure I still “had it” before I shared anything. But I have a solid final product for one manuscript getting sent out. And starting another in my own version of #nanowrimo. I guess it’s #mynowrimo.

But in August. During back-to-school. Fun.

8/3: 1372/50k words
